Male leopards have massive territories and will spend the majority of their time patrolling, scent marking and rasping, making sure that all other males know who this area belongs too.
As the males have much territories than the females, they can often have 3-4 different females in their territory and in order to successfully spread their genetics, it is crucial that they patrol on a regular basis.

A male leopard I saw many years ago when I worked at Londolozi. I was fortunate enough to spend some time with him while I was recently at @sabisabireserve
It’s amazing to think this guy is 11 years old and still going! Just imagine the kind of life he has lived in an area teaming with other predators! To hunt, patrol and survive all on his own says it all! " Reply
