There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.
Marlon du Toit:" A young male leopard hovers defensively over an impala carcass. Or atleast what remains of it.
He never made the kill himself, his mother did that for him. At this age he is very capable of killing smaller prey like game birds, lizards, mongooses & the like. His mother though will do the harder work & supply him with a meal until the estimate age of 18 months, give or take.
In this picture he is defending the remains of the impala against his mom. See, she already knows that at this age, he is incredibly defensive of meals. She’s able to displace him if she really wanted to, but it’s all a part of growing up for the young male, to ensure he’s ready for the big bad world away from her side. "
