There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Pre-Mapogo era.
MalaMala, 2005: Makhulu, Pretty Boy and Rasta formed a coalition (Eyrefield Males) of three and tried to find a territory only for themselves, but the pressure from the North (2 Split Rock Males), from the South (3 Rollercoaster Males), and from the East (4 Skukuza Males) was very high.
However the three made some victims:
- Skukuza: "The males of the Eyrefield pride were seen to stick together this month, and provided good viewing. Evidence suggests that they had an encounter with four other male lions, all quite young, to the west of the Sand River on Charleston. These other males all suffered a few minor wounds, and it is unlikely that the Eyrefield Males escaped without any injury to themselves." (June 2005)
"Four sub-adult male lions were seen on several occasions, mainly around the central parts of the reserve. These were the same four males believed to have originated from the Skukuza Pride. One of the males has a bad eye and a very bad limp, and battles to keep up with the other three. These four males have in the past clashed with the Eyrefield Males. They seem to be gaining in confidence, and could yet prove to be a major force in the area." (August 2005)
- Rollercoaster: "The three Rollercoaster Males, having not been seen at all on Mala Mala Game Reserve for a few months, suddenly re-appeared during this game report period, back on Toulon and even Charleston. It had been thought that these males had been ousted by the Eyrefield Males, but this now seems not to have been the case. One of the lions (the one missing an eye) is in poor condition, and has a very severe limp, and one can only wonder how long he will survive." (September 2005).
But also had hard times:
- Split Rock: "The Split Rock Males had a very good month in November, being seen on no fewer than 22 days. They also showed that they are still very much in control, especially when it came to clashes with the males of the Eyrefield Pride." (September 2005)
By the end of 2005 they took the other three brothers and starting from March 2006 blitzkrieged Sabi Sand.
