There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.
Three brother coalition were patrolling and marching towards the photographer’s vehicle! They are the three adult sons sired by the famous duo Jesse and Frank, born in Offbeat pride at Mara North. They are quite often referred to as “Moniko males” by locals but to make it accurate, we should call them Sankai (Moniko breakaway) pride males, or simply “Offbeat boys”. They look as handsome as their fathers!
As we have known one of them (in the middle in this photo) sadly lost his life to human-wildlife conflicts beginning of this year (at that time already got badly injured due to fighting with Fig Tree boys) . The other two brothers are still managing to hold both Sankai pride and Fig Tree breakaway pride at Talek area now. They also got formal names! The dark-mane boy in the back, well known for being aggressive to vehicles, is named “Olope” as he’s the Mr. Grumpy. The one at front, pretty much a mini-Jesse, is named “Olbarikoi” which means blonde/brown hair. We hope these two remaining brothers learn to stay as close to each other as possible to defend their land. We won’t be able to see all three boys walking like this any more, but thanks to photographer Matt, this image is to memorize the good times when they were together!
