He's either extremely short or he's standing on a side hill because they aren't very high, certainly not sternum height

Here you can see my guide in front of one and he was very short, my GF who is pictured in the foreground is 5'7'' and she was quite a bit taller than him.

Below is a good image of a Lioness walking directly in front of our jeep and a jeep ahead of us.

Obviously any Lion with a shoulder height even close to the hood level is still very tall.
