There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

I don't mind starting a thread about lions and tigers, but we want to prevent the mess typical for nearly all forums that have these threads. The biggest problem is that threads of this nature often quickly develop into versus debates dominated by participants guided by preference. The most common results are accumulation of misinformation, a total lack of communication and a bad climate. Not interesting for posters with good information and readers.

I don't mind heated debates, but the condition to participate is quality all the way and the aim should be good information and good conclusions. In order to get there, knowledge, common sense and the willingness to cooperate are needed. For most posters, that's quite an ask.

I want to give it a try, as it could develop into an interesting thread. Apart from that, it would be good for business. The condition is good posters and good moderation. Although most of us, if not all, are preferenced to a degree, good posters should be able to overcome a few problems in order to get to a real good thread. We need one on lions and tigers, as the internet is loaded with crap in this respect.

I would be willing to do the moderation, provided a number of good lion posters report for duty. Before we start, we need to agree on a very clear set of rules and measures in case they are ignored.

At the moment, the conditions needed are not there. Besides, there's something I want to do first. Over the years, I collected a lot of information on size and skulls. The time to do something has arrived. The tables I want to produce are needed for the papers I want to write with Tigerluver. In 6 months or thereabout, we could consider a thread about lions and tigers. Anyone with ideas is invited to present them.

In order to keep things clear, we will start a new thread about lions and tigers soon. The thread will be different from others in that it, regarding information, will be sleeping for some time to come. Only those able to do a post about the conditions and goals will post. In order to post, permission of a mod is needed.

This thread, to be sure, is about wild carnivores and humans. Not one in which ideas about a lion and tiger thread can be posted.
