There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Zoos, Circuses, Safaris: A Gallery of Captivity

Hello, I have been living in the french part of the Switzerland for 24 years ago. 10.000 km2 and 1-1,2 million inhabitants, two cities counting more than 100.000 inhabitants Genf and Lausanne. But a lone zoo in the Vaud countryside, the Servion zoo, founded in 1975. With the help of a bank after a few well-managed years, they could acquire a couple of siberian tigers, then a couple of lions during the 1990s. Apart from these big felids, we can see some brown bears, wolves, cougar, but I believe this zoo is particularly famous as concerns the small monkeys of the South America continent (Tamarin monkeys).

Among the biggest animals: the European bisons.

If you want to see this zoo site:

No lion since 2017, year of the late lioness's death. But late tuesday a new young king, coming from the Erfurt zoo (Germany) is arrived. 18 months old and weighing soon 105 kilos. A lionness will follow in few weeks.

For those who want to see its arrival:

And to understand more informations, don't hesitate to ask me for clearing some points.
