There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

If I remember correctly, the biggest South African lions are bigger than the biggest East African lions. Even comparing the average South African lions to East African lions, the Southern specimens always have much bigger frame (including skull size) than the East African specimens.
East Africa is a massive place with most of the territory not permitted for hunting.
To my knowledge there are no measurements from the Crater other than a chest girth estimated to be 10% larger than any others known to Packer.
Seeing the crater first hand, I know that there are many factors that contribute to larger animals.
