There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.
Aquaphobia itself isnt a direct symptom of Rabies, but often develops as a result of the prolonged suffering due to the choking in foam. I dont think we are seeing enough of that yet to rule out Rabies on aquaphobia alone. Though if there is a real suspicion that rabies might be involved. I doubt they would leave him at a wateringhole like that.
Its nearly impossible to diagnose an animal from a distance like this. Though there are some good reasons to suspect TBC is involved, it could just as easily be something else or a combination of factors. Like sepsis or something. We need more information, and seeing this mystery illness has potentially already killed more lions in the region and may pose a risk to other animals, wild or lifestock. I think it maybe wise to intervene here and perform an autopsy just to rule things out.
In any case. Regardless of how this ends for him. I hope he doesnt have to suffer long.
Who would have known that nearly a year after DMs death, we would be in the same boat again.
