There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

It's so very interesting why he is among them. Could it be that he mated with some of the lionesses of their pride at some point in the past around the time these males were born, and he feels they might be his own? Not so far-fetched. Lionesses can see mating outside of the coalition as a good strategy, especially if their males are older or absent a lot. Anyway, we'll never know.
Even if the above is not the case, it's still a very good move on his part! Aligning himself as a mature male among so many immature ones, gives him a chance to have support as he ages, and decreases the burden of hunting/finding mates, etc. Brilliant move. Hope he capitalizes on it. As we all know, the chances of a lone lion in KNP and reserves making it to old age without any problems are extremely low. Competition is fierce and cub killing on the high end.
