Well he definitely got pressured and chased by Imbali male in late 2021.
Also, his brothers being chased back further north around the same time was prob not good for him either, as we see, his brothers are not exactly allies anymore, not saying that they would attack him, they wouldn't, but they are not accepting him either, Mohawk is definitely more dominant and prob stronger then him, so he couldn't "challenge" him and show him that this is his territory.
So he was basically squeezed in between Imbali male and his brothers, and he didn't stand up to neither, he might just now start ti look like nomadic male, but he didn't behave like dominant male for months now, he was basically follow Talamatis for food, i cant remember see him roaring or scent marking in recent months on WildEarth.. And with Talamatis abandoning him, he didn't have any reason to stay there alone anymore.
So i wouldn't say that he became nomadic for no reason, he definitely lost "grip" on his territory..
