There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

A report from Northern Conservation Officer:
On 24th January, our Northern Conservation Officer found an adult male lion that appeared to have a bullet wound above its ear. After the veterinary intervention, it was found that, fortunately, it was a deep claw wound from fighting with another male lion. We wouldn’t usually treat an animal with a natural injury (as stated in our current Management Plan below), but because of the appearance of a possible anthropogenic injury, we intervened, and it turned out to be of a natural cause. We are happy with the outcome, and the animal is doing well.
“SSW Protected Area will at all times aim to achieve minimal management interference with regards to its existing wildlife populations. Exceptions will only be made when, through anthropogenic interference, the wellbeing of indigenous wildlife species are threatened.”
