There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Keep in mind that the Mhangeni don't have access to maps and up to date records of every lions whereabouts like we do.
They likely made some errors in judgements, believed that the entire Nwas coalition were further to the east, didn't know there was a pride there and thought that they could get away with venturing just a little bit further south to follow that antelope herd or something. Until it was to late.
Mistakes happen. Not every lions decision is based on sound logic or makes sense. Sometimes they just screw up and do exactly the opposite of what we, looking up from above with our fancy maps and information network wouldn't do when walking in their pawprints
They dont have maps, but lions roar, Mhangenis are very well awere that east/southeast of them is coalition of 4 dominant males (they encounterd them before, and lost cubs after that) but regardless of that they ventured there and encounterd one or more and after encounter (which happened at Sabi Sabi) they didnt retreat back yet continued stay and move further east into Nottens.
Mhangenis have 4 (soon will be all 6 as sub/cub is gone) females ready for mating, its hard to believe they would not seek males for mating for 2-3 yrs because they have 1-2 cubs to raise. Only hope was if they accepted NK or 2 PC boys and they speared cubs.. Which now doesnt matter as they are gone.
