There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

You mean he took leftovers from an already full
Should I have said “small hyena” as well?
You don’t need to be fanatical about it, the Hyena took his kill. Whether he was full or not doesn’t matter, that’s what happened.
Fanatical? How about I'm being realistic? OP also acknowledges there was barely anything left of the kill. You call this remaining part of a kill leftovers.

Shujaa is large enough to have switched his diet from lightweights to large prey. His main prey is young/adult wildebeest but recently he killed a young zebra that was too heavy to lift. At best he'll share it with a single hyena but wasting energy by killing large prey (relative to his size) and giving it up? If that was true he would've sticked with liftable impala's.

Are you really going through all this to make the excuse he was full?
That wasn't what was questioned.
He had a kill, the Hyena took his kill or "leftovers" straight from him. That's what happened, there's nothing else that needs to be said. It doesn't need to be this big "what about this" as to why the Hyena was able to do it, the fact is that the Hyena did it, in fact it even makes sure there was no more left to take before leaving.
