Felids Interactions - Interspecific Conflicts

Here’s some info on cheetah interspecific interactions with spotted hyenas from Namibia. From 2008-2012, 4 translocated adult cheetahs were killed by spotted hyenas. 1 of them (Aju40) was a captive female. Aju01 was a 3 year old wild female weighing 37kg. Aju38 was a wild adult male of 37kg. Aju19 (the largest male in this study) was a wild 49kg male who was released with Aju20, an adult female cheetah (who also died but the cause of her death is unknown). Aju19 was killed by 2 spotted hyenas. I didn’t see anything about lion or leopard predation but instead all of the predator conflict deaths were caused by spotted hyena, which is quite unusual.
