There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Not sure, but lion who was tested had it.
Regardless, it is some kind of disease, some kind of bacteria or something, as it comes with other health issues, like limping, muscle atrophy, being skinny etc.
Theres very long list of lions who had it, that eventually died from those symptoms in their prime years, just to name few, Hip Scar Majingilane (he got name because of it) Sizanani Thanda Impi, Nsuku Bboy, Limper Tumbela, Talamati DeLaporte and many others.
But there is some who also have it, but for now still live with it normally, like 2 Mbiri males (although Scar/Zigzag started to show symptoms, like limping and he is not as bulky as he was) , or Snip Tail Mpondo, so i think they have less agressive type.
Some, like Sizanani got his whole hip almost "eaten" :
