There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Sillari . Pench Maharashtra . Mukthar the king.

The last summer was probably one of the worst is recent times for Pench , water levels dwindled to a puddle in areas which were know to house enough water to drown a man. Boat camp , the grassland area of the park ,was the epicenter of all activities with 2 females having having 4 and 3 cubs each surviving with at least 2 males seen regularly in the area. The Kutumba Nala female often joined this chaotic area with her 2 cubs and all corners of boat camp echoed with calls.

Back in 2014 to 2017 Sillari was divided with 2 males , Mukthar (in pic) ruled the area from Bakhari , Kutumba , Duck Point and 10 Number pulia while Prince dominated Ambakhori , Tar Road , Badi chadai . With time Prince made way for CT male the current heartthrob of Sillari who rarely ventures in areas around Boat Camp , he generally does not go beyond boat camp t point.

This left the entire stretch of kutmba to boat camp empty. With 3 breeding females in the area , Mukthar seized the moment and made himself at home in the Power Zodi / juna Boat camp stretch which was bang in the middle of all the activity. During this time BMW male , who was ousted from Pench MP by a younger male entered the Boat Camp , he stayed for almost a month giving tourists a good time as he was bolder than the other tigers in Sillari . In time Mukthar pushed him out and he was not seen in the latter half of the summer.

Mukthar was often seen with females and cubs but rarely gave opportunities to photograph as he melted away in the tall grass of Pench Back waters but this summer with its relentless heat and lack of water forced this otherwise shy male to come out of his cover and wait patiently for a sip at one of the nullas at boat camp.

It took him 3 hours to come out in the clearing and by then most of the tourist had surrendered to the sun and left , few endured and we privileged to see this sight . He is by far the biggest tiger in Sillar and is now in his prime .But all is not in control of this big boy as this year a new and younger male has breached his Bakhari fortress , this guy is young and kept himself to the Bakhari water hole throughout the summer. The Bakhari female tolerated him and was often seen in the same area although not with the new male.

It would be interesting to find out what has happened of the new male once the park opens.
