National Tiger Authority of Madhya Pradesh has took orders from the Supreme Court to bring cheetahs, nearly 12 villages have been displaced in the Nauradehi Sanctuary

 The Project Cheetah of bringing  cheetah in the largest Nauradehi Sanctuary has gained significant pace now. After the recommendation of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), made things really fast. There are preparations for shifting 30 cheetahs in the Nauradehi Sanctuary. These cheetahs will be brought from South Africa and Namibia. Since the cheetahs are thrive in grasslands, the grass is spread in about 400 square kilometers in the sanctuary has also been vacant after the displacement of the village. That is, almost the area of the Panna tiger reserve (450 sq km), has been evacuated for cheetahs.

Project  was prepared almost eight years ago
According to the plan, Project Cheetahs to the Nauradehi Sanctuary was prepared almost eight years ago. For this, about Rs. 3000 crores was prepared, including expenditure on the displacement of villages residing among the sanctuary. At the time of preparing the proposal, only 23 villages should be displaced, but gradually their number has reached 38 and so far 12 villages have been completely displaced.

Expert team doing studies
According to information received from the forest department, a 15-to-18 member committee of the Nauradehi Sanctuary is working for it to make a tigers and cheetahs home in Nauradehi. It includes State Forest Research Institute, Jabalpur Veterinary Medical College and Wild Life Scientists. Experts maintain timely feedback on the impact of climate change, biodiversity in the sanctuary.

There are thousands of wild animal species

Founded in the year 1975, there are thousands of animal species in the Nauradehi Sanctuary. The sanctuary area is spread over an area of about 1197 sq. Km, which covers three districts, Sagar, Narsinghpur and Damoh in its borders. Due to Biodiversity, the Nauradehi Wildlife Sanctuary is unique. In addition to many big ponds and lakes to quench the thirst of animals, the life-giving rivers: Byarama and Bamaner fulfills needs of water even in dry season.

Wildlife

In the sanctuary, the tigers, leopards, wolves, wild boar, Golden jackals, Dhole, hyena, fox, bears, chinkara, chital deer, Nilgai, Black backed Jackals, mugger crocodile, sambar and many other wildlife are found in this area. According to departmental information, the number of leopards have started to grow in the Sanctuary since last one year, whereas the number of chital, deer and chinkara is also increasing steadily.

12 villages are completely displaced

Geographically and naturally, the Nauradehi Sanctuary is a suitable place for all types of wildlife besides tigers and leopards. This is the reason that about 37 villages residing in the sanctuary are being displaced. So far, 12 villages have been completely shifted from here, whereas the amount of displacement has reached the bank accounts of two more villages. 25 villages displacement budget has reached the accounts of the three districts of Sagar, Damoh and Narsinghpur collectors. This amount has come in installments, it is being said that at present, the each district collector accounts have an amount of about 433 crore rupees.

These are the arrangements

- Night Vision cameras are installed in the sanctuary.

- Monitored by the drones.

- After the arrival of the tigers, tiger task force teams are constantly active.

- Grasslands and other savanana habitats have been developed.

- For safety brought to the Belgian Shepard Dogs are under patrol.

Sanctuary is fully prepared
Forest department team and Sanctuary are fully prepared for Cheetahs. Around 400 sq. Km of grounds have been evacuated for cheetah habitat. We will start the process of bringing cheetahs soon.

YES!!!!!!!!! WHOOOHOOOOO!!!!! YEAH!!! It's been a long wait, but it's finally happening! It feels like it was almost yesterday when this first came along, crazy to think that was such a long time ago. This is the best news I've heard all week, I'll be counting down to the day cheetahs go back to India. Reply
