There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

@BA0701 Ximhungwe were always more relaxed with Tumbela or Birminghams, than with PCM for whatever reason, especially Gingerella.

PCM have attacked Gingerella once or twice and she has slapped them multiple times.

Maybe it's because she was getting used to Birminghams and Tumbela who were nicer to her, before PCM suddenly took over and acted very aggressively, chasing her when she slapped the smaller PCM lightly.

And also it's very likely PCM were the one to kill her first litter. The report was that Tumbela was close to the den when PCM arrived and chased him, then there was a big commotion in the den and the females never returned there again.

Its probably more becouse they were already used to him and felt more in contol due to it being two versus one.

I dont think there is any evidence the PCmales killed the first litter of cubs. That particular account of events gets shared a lot. But makes little sense in that context. It sounds more like just a minor scruffle between the pride and the PCmales without any cubs involved.

This is just the perfect situation to show the effectiveness of this behavior, Skorro is unwilling to leave the area for whatever reason so it's a given that he will interact with the cubs at some point as well, not just the PCMs. I don't think this is anything extra ordinary in terms of behavior.

That being the case, have you seen it involving an outside male as well, one who isn't a member of the dominant coalition?

Very much doubt it is, but is there any chance this is the other Southern Avoca. This particular male was seen in the H5 area, so checked a KNP map and it’s right below Skukuza which is close enough to their old stomping grounds, Dreadlocks retreated to Skukuza after taking a beating from both Southern Avocas.

I tried to but it's inconclusive from my research. The right ear nick matches perfectly but I can't find any other identifying features. The S. Avoca has a pretty unique nose but I don't see it with this male because the face is badly scarred and almost looks swollen. The ear is the only thing I can confidentialy say matches perfectly and he seems to have a pretty similar physique as well. It could be him.
