Lions of Sabi Sands

Same as Osindile for YBM. not sure these will spread around (they don’t seem very popular even among the fb followers) like those of Osindile and Nguvu did. Those names have an African translation that’s sensible. Not sure Thor and Lighting are seen the same way. Hehehe While the reserves seldom name individual lions, they do routinely name coalitions. So it does beg the question regarding the PCM, and Others. I do suspect they will eventually get a coalition name (like Singita gave the Nwalungu) Similarly, I await a decision (probably late in the year) for an official name to the Nkuhuma Breakaways (Ridge Nose and Amber Eyes). Btw, Talamatis are back north, seen on WildEarth. 
I dont like the nwaswishaka individual names that were given to them, i prefer the old descriptive names

Attempting to considate the existing threads, pulling out which post would belong in which thread would be a logistical nightmare. It could also harm continuity of the conversations. I took a few screenshots of the Male here. @Tonpa and @Tr1x24 can you guys verify which? I believe it’s the dark mane sub? 
The problem is that the current system is inconsequent, hard to keep track of and reinforces the idea that most fans are here too see bloody gladiator fights.
You cant just greenlight every thread for every insignificant coalition. And then lumb every pride, which are far more important in just one thread as suddenly its to much work. Over time I just got used to them. There was ofc bit of an issue, when the Dominant Male (aka Amahle) without prominent markers turned out might not be so dominant as te hierarchay has seemed fluid and except Gore all seemed to express seemingly dominant behaviour (Orange Eyes was perhaps rather grumpy than dominant). Wide Nose turned out to be older that we thought, and is doing well (the mock mating among the 3, he was in top position for example). Back to Amahle - even today we could cal him Dark Mane perhaps and that is chracteristic that gets repeated in other colaition and would lead to confusion. This is also I tend to bi biased towards specimen with unique appearance and markers as they can be easier differentiated from others and provide suitable nicknames organically. Most lions just receive descriptive monikers to aid in identification (blonde-mane, dark-mane, mohawk-mane, purple-eye, silver-eye etc) I guess in case of Nguvu and Osindile, those got adapted more beacause a) they had bit of an above average following due to their story and/or appearance b) there were other individuals growing up that would be Othawa (Young) Males or Brimingham Young Males respectively so often one just wrote Othawa Male (Nguvu) anyway normalizing the name further. Although the abbreviations like BYM seems to be a decent work around as well, if those lions gets reffered to just by them over time. |
