From feeding yes... battle wounds and marks are different. As you have seen Mbiri Male and N'waswitshaka male.

There has been quite the shake up for the Othawa Pride since the Tumbela male lions moved into the area. It was a great sight seeing the various members of the Othawa Pride back together again.

It doesn't have to be, lions can only have a minor scars after a fight too.. If its a situation when 1 male is outnumbered, 3 vs 1 for example , that 1 lion will barely do any injury to others besides few scratches and we would never know that those 3 where involved in a fight..

Usually the visible and big injuries/scars are on the male who is outnumbered in the fight..

If that Nwaswitshaka didnt get a blow in his eye, we would never know that he was involved into a fight, if it wasnt reported.. 1 other Nwaswitshaka was also involved, and he has no fresh marks/scars..

Its impossible to tell from where lions get their scars..

-3 Mapogos versus 3 Matimbas -
The mystery night June 19th 2011

Battle Number 2nd. First battle happened in Northern sabisands earlier reported by (Nkorho Bush Lodge).

(by Mark Broodryk, Head Guide, Singita Sabi Sand June - 22 - 2011)
"Forty-eight hours ago we located 3 adult male lions just north of the lodge (presumed to be the ones people refer to as “the Mapogos”). We found them by responding to vocalization; it sounded like a massive fight between adult male lions. On locating these three, we noticed that they had been badly beaten, were bloodied and received massive fresh scars from the ensuing morning battle. The three of them walked off with a very determined striding pace and didn’t even stop or look back to the area where the battle took place and continued south and west across the Sand river into the western Sabi Sand and we haven’t seen them since. Meanwhile south of the river, roughly around the same time, some new male lions killed a younger male from the southern pride. We presumed the murderers to be the so called “Majingilanes". We haven’t had too much exposure to these individuals and thus will be trying to put together some photo identity kits of these individuals. What is important to note, is that these were not necessarily the same individuals involved in the skirmish north of the river! We never located the individuals that ousted the “Mapogos” and thus could well have been other individuals. Unfortunately this is all we have at this stage, but will keep you posted should we have a more accurate assessment as to what is currently happening amongst the territorial males in the area."

by Khimbini Hlongwane
"Last the three mapogo were very vocal north of inyati lodge I then visited Singita and again on North of ebony lodge there male lions roaring the whole night. This morning I tracked three mapogo from inyati airstrip all the way east and they crossed ottawa corseway in the direction where the other lions were roaring. They ran straight into *matimbas. They got into a serious battle but when the Singita Guides got to the area they saw the mapogos running back west carrying few bloody wounds. We are still not sure status of the *matimbas because they won't come out of one the thick blocks on north eastern part of ottawa."

*Mistakenly Khimbini thought it would be the Majingilanes.

by Kyaw Soe Win
"No, it was 3 Matimba males known also as Sava males. Sava = shy , Matimba = stronge.
Now they are not shy anymore, Even bigger and stronger.
They are 6 brothers.
5 are 5 years and 1 is 7 years old.
Last week they probably injured one of Majingilanes with dark means seriously.
I got this information in a email from photographer who has taken many pictures of Matimba/Sava males. I am sure the rangers from Singita can confirm it."

by Chris O'Neil
"It does indeed look like it may have been 3 of the Matimbas. And the Majingis have also been around Matimba territory too apparently. I heard from Singita that they killed a young Southern Pride (Selati) male recently."

That's it.

No one would really know exact info about his battles but in this clip from 2015 you can clearly see he has a lot of scars and that was 5 years ago.

Warrior can only used for legendary lions like Hairy Belly, Ginger Mapogos and Majingelanes who were involved in countless battles and had near death fights and injuries. And came out like true Kings when everyone thought they were finished.

It's his name!!! Go change your name from Nathan to something more believable then coz I don't think your mummy named you right. Also I thought you were the Lion expert. Nhenha hasn't been in a single battle and he hasn't got a single scratch? So I guess he walks in spikes every once in a while to get some scars? So you don't know your lion reports after all. Like do you know Nhenha and Mfumo chased Ginger and HB in early 2017 out of Cheetah Plains? What about the Birminghams vs Selati in 2016 where they individually mauled both Selati and pushed them north. Oh did you know that the Birminghams are the suspects who mauled Ginger in 2016 at Londolozi. Ginger was mauled in Londolozi and the Birminghams were in Elephant Plains with their own fresh wounds including Nhenha,Tinyo and Nsuku specifically. Oh did you know the Birminghams killed a male in the Manyelthi before coming into Sabi Sand and killed one in 2017 as well. Oh did you know the Old Selati Male dissappeared in 2017 just when Nhenha and Mfumo were seen there mating with the Talamati? What if the Birminghams are the ones who killed him. Oh did you know that the Birminghams have gone to their Kruger border on many occasions and came back with fresh scars? The reserves even said they heard sounds of Lion fighting. Oh did you know the Birminghams mauled a young male in the North Mala Mala this year June? Mala Mala found him mauled and the Gowrie Males and Kambula were nearby. We haven't seen that young male since so he either died or ran away. And how much more could have happened when you, the lion expert wasn't looking and there are also many other reports that happened as well that I didnt mention involving chases.

Birminghams never chased Hairy Belly and Ginger. It was Hairy Belly and Ginger who chased them on a live safari. Although it is true that Matimbas left the territory after that. It's usuall the case with Male lions to lose interest in a territory after a long time. Matimbas were in this area for 5 years and it was Normal they left it without a fight. Birminghams physically never chased them. Get it.

And same is with Birminghams now they are leaving territory as Avoca males move in. Without putting a fight or sth.

Birminghams have not been test. Its been said by MalaMala on many occasions. Birmingham Males never had a battle against other coalitions when they became dominant males. There is a video of them with the single Selati male but that's not such a video that they can be warrior or sth for this.

Thats false, Matimbas where ousted by Bboys, they didnt left because they wanted to..

Bboys left this area pretty much before the Avocas came in, Bboys where already seen with Mhanghenis and Kambulas, so they abandon Nkuhumas, and then Avocas came in to that pride..

The Lion expert trying to pull out all the stops, heres your proof. The Matimbas were seen in the area and here's the report by Cheetah plains that Nhenha and Mfumo chased lions out of the area

Fought the Selati again in 2016 and pushed them north. I thought you knew what you were talking about.

Its not BBoys fault because no other coalition dare to challenge them since they became dominant.. Yet that speaks about their power, 5 years and nobody dare to challenge them..

But Bboys have quite a history with fighting in their nomadic days as @Slayerd said..

Just this year Nhenha and Tinyo chased Othawa male few times, N. Avocas, Fourways pride males, 4 N'ws, and beat up 2 unknown young males in Northern Mala Mala and 2 Plains Camp young males..

You are saying like Bboys are some cowards that are not daring to fight.. They are chasing other males from their territory regulary, but its not their fault that those males dont have confidence to fight them..

You need to inform yourself a little bit more, you are saying a lot of false stuff..

And at the end, who are you to say that Nhenha is not worth to be named Warrior?..

Again with your false Knowledge. The Birminghams did chase the Matimbas out in 2015. There was literally a Safari Live where the Matimbas ran away when the Birminghams roared. They pushed back eventually but were still chased. There have also been other reports of Matimbas running from Birminghams in 2015 off buffalo kills and more. The Matimbas ran because the Birminghams were too many and they couldn't fight. Stop talking Bullcrap. They ran away because they had no chance. The Birminghams left long before the Avocas came. They came back north but eventually abandoned the area. The Avocas never chased them out like the Birminghams did to the Matimbas.
