There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.
Orpen is a beautiful little camp with just fifteen units. It has a floodlit waterhole and the birding is excellent as I will show you in the next day or so. It is also an entry gate so there is only one route into the Park - The H7.
The H7 is one of the best roads in Kruger for Predator sightings. Lions, leopards, wild dogs, cheetah and hyenas are regularly seen on this road. Predators can be seen at any time of the day but your chances are increased if you are first out of the gate. I was surprised that we were the only car in the queue ?.
6,2 km from the gate I excitedly said, "Look Sharifa, lions on the road.
She replied, "Oh Wow, and they walking towards us." She continued, "Look cubbies coming over the hill."
Four lionesses walked pass us. I was having fun with the cubbies. Sharifa then said, "look on the top of the hill, His Majesty."
There were eight lionesses, two sub-adult males, three cubbies and His Majesty. The lionesses settled down on the road behind us waiting for the Lion. We had them for ten minutes before the next car arrived.
