There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

This is a Doc using Kevin Richardsons "wild/Captive" lions and Hyennas.

So far the show is very interesting.
A couple of Notes so far

-Packer came in with his dummy test
-Played the sound of a unknown male lions roar
-The dummy was a Black maned lion
-Richardson released a Golden maned male and his female
-The female was the first to investigate and looked very intrigued by the male
-The golden mane maled was very aprehensive and tentative
-The male didn't get close until after the female came in and he was never aggressive
-The female actually chases the car that has the male dummy in it because she wanted to mate with the dark maned male.
Pretty funny actually

-Next they released a Black maned male and his female
-Hearing the roar the male was first to investigate
-The male after a few sniffs, began to attack the hind section
-The female attacked the throat and put on a death hold
-They tore it apart

Just more evidence that the color of the mane is the visual cue of a Lions status

Now on to the IQ test

Its amazing how smart Hyenna are
In fact, hyenna are now a long with Chimps and Ravens, the only known animals to display "deception" even though I am sure a lot of others do this as well, they have been the only ones to do this in a test.
Lions are not as cooperative as we thiink, which has been stated by packer. They are more geared toward # of animals all mauling the prey at the same time and over whelming it. Both are smart but you can tell with out a shadow of a doubt that Hyenna are incredibly intellegent but also very nervous. Its been very interesting so far, there is a new episode on the Smithsonian channel tonight. I suggest you watch it.
