Good @Sanju, this is a very good defence of the case and I respect that.

Yes, I am not satisfied with the method used and is true, species could live more than the time presented in the fossil records. However for the moment the dates of the fossils are the best idea to understant until what time a species actually lived or got extinct. Maybe the Sri Lanka "tiger" was in fact another crono-subspecies like primitive tiger that existed in mainland before it got extinct by the more "advance" and larger Sunda tiger that invaded mainland and evolved into the Wanhsien tiger. I don't know, it could be posible.

Whatever happens, I think that it will be very interesting to see what happen with the new studies about the large prehistoric mammals of Sri Lanka.
