There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.
just completed Tadoba tour , 2 weeks back. Update of Taboda
Mohurli range - Bajrang , the dominant male tiger is going strong. Sometimes he is seen travelling far away areas into Tadoba range. Recently he was seen mating with Sonam again at telia lake. Sonam's last litter; 2 male and 1 female cub ( May 15 born) has separated from mother. All these 4 are seen in and around telia lake separately. I think one of the her cub ( most probably the female cub) has taken a liking of swimming across telia lake. She was spotted multiple times crossing it. Never saw earlier tigers doing this because lakes have crocs too. Waghdoh area have shy and elusive tigers; Waghdoh female and her sub adult cubs are spotted in this area but very rarely. Devdoh female have a new litter of 3 cubs. She is seen occasionally in and around Khatoda gate.
Tadoba range - Matkasur male dominates this huge area. he is spotted very often, sometimes with choti tara and cubs as family and sometimes mating with maya. But few other males are also seen occasionally like Narsinha, Navegaon male, kankazari male. Vasant bandhara area is closed , so Katezari male isn't seen. Last seen was more than 1 year back. Guides told me, he has moved still deeper inside in area called Bhanuskhindi. Gabbar is supposed to be inside Vasant bandhara. He is not spotted after July 16. Maya is often spotted. He male cub of last litter, Bhola ( May 15 born) is separated and occasionally spotted after a brief skirmish with Matkasur male in Feb 17. Maya may be pregnant. The most happening and most sighted family is Choti tara and 2 male cubs ( 8 months old and very bold). They are around jamni lake and meadows. I spotted the cubs twice in 4 days. In and around kolara and navegaon buffer few other tigers are also occasionally spotted
Kolsa range - Shibvanzari female and her 4 cubs are often spotted but in first week of march, 2 of the cubs were fitted with collars and hence sighting deceased but now again they are back. Kuwhani female and her 7-8 moths cubs are often seen. Hirdi nala tigress and her 3 cubs are often spotted. On one lucky day , forest guards spotted these 9 tigers together near sukdi bodi water hole ( 2 tigresses with 7 of their cubs) . They were walking together like a large lion pride. What a view it would have been. But no photos of that. As usual kolsa males like Bunty and Gangaram are rarely photographed but often spotted by villagers and forest guards
Buffer - Devada, junona and agarzari buffer have sightings of Madhuri and 4 cubs. Waghdoh male has moved away and seen very occasionally. Othe two females aishwarya and sharmillee too occasionally I also witnessed a wild dogs hunt as devada lake.
In short Tadoba is rocking. from now on till 15 June is the best time to visit there. Posting a photo of Choti tara male cub clicked by my friend and co-tourist shashank kadam on 20 march
