MALAMALA TODAY: March 19th. 3 lion sightings: We found the 2 Matshapiri males and 6 breakaway lionesses early this morning walking northward along the Mlowathi River. Chaos ensued when they caught sight of another male lion to their north, 1 of the Gowrie males. He ran north and both Matshapiri males gave chase! Some of the lionesses also followed suit but then it was difficult to make out what was going on as there were lions roaring and running everywhere. After a while the males returned, all the lionesses regrouped and they starting moving south again. The Eyrefield pride were viewed hunting Zebra at F-bend Open Area in the south. There seems to be a definite territorial shift southwards, most likely as a result of the 6 breakaway lionesses. 3 leopards: the Treehouse male has a kill on Lion Loop. The Island female was seen close to Main Camp. An unidentified female was spotted down south along the Tjellehanga River. Many elephant and buffalo bull sightings were recorded today.
