There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.
Picture and write up by Adam Bannister. He was a ranger at Londolozi for many years, so he knew Hip scar intimately.
Today I learnt of the passing of Hip Scar - one of the members of the mighty Majingilane Coalition. I had the privilege of spending countless hours with him. Late nights and early mornings - his tracks etched in the sand. Il never forget him marching down the road in Londolozi roaring to alert all of his presence. How many pictures have been taken? How many lives has he touched? How much of an impact has this one lion had? Of course his death is sad, but what we should celebrate is that he died WILD, leaving behind a legacy. It is now up to us to fight to continue to protect not only his offspring's land, but the land under which all lions still roam! Rest In Peace.
