History's most brutal killers, the Majingilane Male Lions

Three of the Majigilane, old and battle-scarred, make a return visit to Londolozi.


The fourth male, the one with the scar on his hip, is apparently in very poor condition to the west of Londolozi after a suspected confrontation with other lions, possibly even the Matimba males.
Is this the beginning of the end for this brotherhood that has dominated the area for almost 7 years?

Without malice, I questioned them about this, saying that Hip scar's condition was due to him going without a meal for some time and that weakened him, and that also Dulini hadn't said a thing about any fight injury. 

They told me this: 

Apparently he was badly cut up, and was seen next to a buffalo carcass on which the Matimbas were feeding...

The update we had was from 72 hours ago when he was viewed on Singita. Lions can make quick recoveries if they have a good meal...

At the same time, as it usually happens with people freaking out in social media like children, Dulini got a lot of questions about the Majingilane.

There's been a bit of back and forth debate regarding the status of the Majingilane Male Lions.


Our most recent information coming from our rangers and their colleagues at other lodges indicates that all 4 Majingilane males are accounted for and are doing well. As most are concerned with the status of the 'Hip Scar' male, he seems to be 'stable' as far as his condition is concerned. If we hear of any changes to their status, we'll certainly pass that news along. Reply
