Hunting buffalo is a dangerous endeavour for lions, but the potential reward of a successful kill makes the risk worthwhile.

Unfortunately for the Kambulas, the buffalo had sensed their presence and made a swift escape. With the midday heat settling in, the four males soon gave up the chase and instead focused on some reciprocal grooming - a social behaviour that reinforces bonds, maintains unity, and keeps their fur clean."
