There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

I have seen the images of Lorkulup's head, in case anyone may have still been holding out that he might still be alive. If the death of this highly beloved lion, from his second encounter with humans, is not enough to stop the tourism for Masai Mara, then nothing will. However, as it seems to me, this is literally what they are trying to do, trying to claim that land for themselves. While their government turns a blind eyes towards their open lawlessness, they don't want the additional eyes that tourism brings, to be trained on them. I believe the only thing that will stop it, will be pressure and sanctions from outside governments. These people are trying to claim the land that these creatures live on, since the creatures are what draws the tourism, taking the land clearly means more to them.

Pressure on their government, from the outside, akin to the pressures that lead to the anti-poaching squads (not an easy fight for those who were involved), and the strict laws which permit the killing of said poachers, is what is needed. As they did then, they didn't focus on the poachers, you don't focus on the people taking the land, you focus on what their government deems important and that is what you begin to sanction. In the end, it will take getting their government to care, about enforcing their own laws, since the laws against what is happening already exist.

This has been my stance for some time.  FULL and complete BOYCOTT of everything from any of these nations.  Sanctions and Tariffs and every imaginable political power brought to bear.  Starve them back to what they were 30 years ago when we still had Rhinos' and a thriving Elephant population, and yes... WILD Cats roaming these lands.
