There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

If I were an NK Lioness, I'd be wary of these males going back and forth all the time, not providing constant protection to potential cubs in the future. I wouldn't be as sold on them....but that's just me, lol. Maybe all of them are now pregnant!
If Xim gets pregnant, she'll be roaring all the time for the males to return and look after the pride, no doubt. But if there are MORE young cubs with the NKs, then I fear they will start to return less often to the Xim Pride, leaving the poor older lioness to once again lose any cubs to secure her bloodline.
I don’t think the amount of cubs they sire with each pride matters much. They will most likely stay primarily with Nkuhuma Pride for the amount of mating opportunities that come with it. I also don’t think PCMs keep returning to Ximhungwes purely to see if the old female is now pregnant, I genuinely believe they just favour that pride for unknown reasons.
I think their territory positioning also makes it easier for them to go back and forth between them and Nkuhumas, hence them seemingly not visiting Mhangenis as much. It’s definitely a wary time for all prides as PCMs don’t seem fully commited to one of them, but Mhangenis are for sure the ones in most danger.
Time will tell if they do shortchange the Xim Pride in the future or try to do a 50//50 split between the NK and Xim Prides. I doubt though, that this will be feasible as they age and the distance seems more daunting for them to navigate as new males come into SS and come of age to challenge them. In the near future they can get away with these excursions. I'm also curious to find out if the Xim Lioness gets pregnant again, and/or if it's too late to raise a litter.
Hello, Im sorry did something happend to the Ximungue pride? dont they have 2 cubs ?
We’re talking about the original Ximhungwe female who no longer has any cubs after her male cub was killed by an elephant. The female who does have the two cubs, was born an Ottawa pride lioness, so despite her now officially being apart of Ximhungwe Pride, we tend to call her Gingerella instead of solely ‘Ximhungwe lioness.’
