There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

I could be wrong, but I'm not really seeing any signs of a broken jaw in this shot. An eventual shot of him eating or not being able to do so will certainly determine what condition his jaw is in.

He does not seem to be losing conditioning, and we are all aware of how fast a male lion can lose conditioning when he doesn't eat regularly. That, at least to me, implies that it is not broken. Clearly a horrible injury, possibly either a kick or a badly infected tooth, but I am just not sure that he has a broken, jaw. Hopefully, the vets will get a chance to inspect him more closely, and will provide some better analysis. He remains active, too, I mean he is mating, which is a great sign.

After looking at the photo you just posted, it seems to be a similar injury to what Scar Mbiri suffered, and makes me think he likely took a kick to the mouth.

Yeah, it was the one post on twitter that implied the vets were the ones saying broken jaw and missing teeth.  I mean.. I agree on that image there.  But, who knows.  It was a tremendous amount of swelling.
