There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Zigzag and Shaka are such an amazing duo!
His lip almost looks like the nerve damage could be healing and he’s able to move his lip a bit.
Is he related to Makhulu mapogo? He looks like him especially in the first picture.
Thank you for updates!
It is unknown exactly how his lip was damaged, as nobody witnessed the event. We did see it in the first few days after, though, there was even concern for him at that time, but as we have all seen over the years since, he and Shaka are extremely tough resilient lions, so he bounced back. I cannot speak to nerve damage, but there is definitely damage that was never able to heal properly. In certain pictures, you can see that his lower lip/chin area was separated (ripped) from the front of his gums/jaw. It is believed he was likely kicked during a hunt, possibly by a buffalo.
