Seven male lions is a lot of mouths to feed and lions dont share nicely. Especially once they grow more confident and dont feel as much of a need for safety in numbers anymore or are already also competing for mating rights.

While it is true that if all seven lions help in the hunt, they should have no issues bring down a kill. But once that happens the three strongest claim the kill, forcing the four to hunt again. Spending twice the amount of energy in the process for the same meal, and that is asuming that by the time they made their second kill. The other three dont steal it again. 

At one point these weaker lions are going to realize that being in a large group is terrible and split off or risk starving. Which is probably why large coalitions are seldom seen and even rarer last. Reply
