There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

"Future of the Western Pride?", Timbavati, Private Reserve, South Africa, Nov 2022 - To end my 2022 safari calendar I took a 'selfish trip' to visit my friends at Leadwood Private Camp Timbavati along with 5 friends. On our first game drive we found the Western Pride lions. This young lion immediately caught my eye.
During the trip I tried a new photo technique for me to get super low angle photos of my subjects and/or eye level shots. I connected my OM System OM-1 and 40-150mm lens to a monopod and then inverted the monopod over the side of the game drive vehicle with the rear screen facing up toward me. I focused and fired the camera with the RM-WR1 Wireless Remote Control. This is the very first image with the new technique. After this shot, I was hooked. btw, I would like to have used a wider angle lens, but wanted to keep my distance from the subject to not stress them and have them act in their natural way. The challenge was pre-guessing the amount of zoom to use. In this particular shot I'm at 120mm (240mm equivalent).”
