He has a smaller mane than his more impressive looking Gomondwane coalition partners however he is an extremely tough lion

! Here he is looking really intimidating, right after the battle with the Shishangeni coalition on the 7th July. Really wish we had more of an update as it has been 2 and a half weeks since the fight between these 2 mighty coalitions. For those following the story there have still been no confirmed sightings of either 2 Shishangeni males that we are aware of. During this time there have been a few sightings of the Hippo Pools pride without any dominant male present. Their absence seems to suggest that at least 1 Shishangeni male was killed during the fight...it is strange though that if the other Shishangeni male is still around, he hasn't been seen anywhere near the roads in southern Kruger during this time?? As Safari Guides in the Kruger National Park, following the ever changing lion dynamics is one of our greatest interests and privileges. We aren't always able to know and share the full story, however judging from the behaviour that we have witnessed and recent sightings, it does seem that the legendary Shishangeni coalition legacy has come to an end!
