There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

There is no point in joining forces with a much stronger lion as it means from that point on, it would just be that lion chasing you away from food or mates. While a weak coalition parker would be of little use for the stronger male. And just consume meat that he could have had himself.
The chances of forming an coalition are therefor much higher when both are roughly equal. Unless there is an prexisting bond.
Nym has been in the same spot for roughly a year now. So clearly he is feeling confident in calling it home. Which wouldnt be the case if he was constantly seriously attacked.
You said that it is unlikely that two males partner up unless they are roughly equal, unless there is an prexisting bond. Well Nkuhuma male is the son of Birmingham boys and They still seem remember each other.
If NK calls Singita "home", then he wont accept any other male lion in his territory, and thus he wont accept Nhena. This means the NK male still considers himself as a nomad looking for territory. And he thinks that his father/uncle would be a good coalition partner for him since he has experience on his side. This is looking more and more likely that a father/son coalition is forming.
