Quote: Brown Bears return to their dens during winter and consume internal stores of fat equivalent to one third their body weight, which they laid down during the previous autumn by eating huge quantities of berries and other nutritious foods. Some individuals, either through sickness or lack of good food supplies, may fail to accumulate sufficient fat. These miserable shatuny or 'wanderers', roam the forests throughout the winter looking for food, and their irritable nature may cause them to charge and attack people.
