Rani was born to the Female Shakira in late 2008. She is still alive and will turn 13 in 2021. She was seen with cubs in 2011 but she lost them. She mated with the male M21 in 2013 and had cubs but lost them too. She mothered cubs in 2015, a male and 2 females (Neema and Nashipai). Usually mothers leave their cub but in Rani's case in 2015 the cubs left her. Rani is one of the oldest females to ever exist in the Mara.
