There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Many?
Show me who are those many.
btw from when people are started worrying about zoo/rescue animals weight?
Several people on YouTube said it, you can find it on Google, etc, and, the weights of captive animals is important as well. We can compare both animals in captivity as well, and see how food intake affects weight.
You tube has nothing to do with here. The weights of captive cats hold no water when comparing wild cats. Their genetics, sub species hybridization and facility capabilities all hold far too much of a factor when determining big cat capabilities.
A perfect example is Shere khan compared to Doc at noahs ark, both are hybrids, but Doc is the largest cat there while shere khan is the smallest tiger there. This is the same for all captive cats, "food intake" isn't a determining factor for big cat size, a big cat will eat, if the food allocated to the cat causes him to become obese, he is being fed too much. But his DEI will also dictate what he needs to sustain, a big cat in a larger enclosure with more enrichment may eat the same as another cat living in a small zoo enclosure and the less active cat will most likely weigh more but the more active cat will be more fit. A larger cat needs more food than a smaller one when the outside factors are the same. Its simple as that, more body needs more fuel.

Also, we may want to just join this with the captive cat thread, I don't see the need for specific captive cats to have their own threads, we will flood this place with them if we do.
