April 28th was Caatinga biome day in Brazil and here is my tribute for this amazing and unique biome.

The Caatinga. Biome 100% brazilian with unique biodiversity and animals which some animals even may adapt itself to fit in this unique biome including many amazing rupestrian paintings done by the ancient residents of the area.

''Despite the adverse conditions, the caatinga biome presents great biodiversity. It is estimated that around 323 plant species and 327 animal species are endemic to the region, according to WWF-Brazil. One of these species is the Blue Macaw, the bird most at risk of extinction in the world. Also living in the Caatinga is the Blue Macaw of Lear, the second most endangered in the country. Although not endemic to the region another bird is the symbol of the Caatinga: the Caracara. The bird of prey is easily found in this biome and became popular throughout the country for inspiring lyrics that talk about the backlands of the Northeast.

Among the plant species, the mandacaru, the xique-xique, and the juazeiro stand out, all of them specially adapted to the particular climatic conditions of the Caatinga, showing the great diversity and richness found in this piece of nature.''
