There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.
I think these small breakaway prides aren't going to give much solace. There isnt much space for them to settle without coming in contact with others. So they will mostly stay close to their parents territory. So they either will be taken by their natal prides territorial male or will be a source of conflict between the males in which one will eventually fall to the other.
I guess that in a few years. The smaller or weaker coalitions or prides will be pushed out. And the lands will be divided among the stronger ones.
There may be some kind of cycle into all of this.
As larger prides give birth to larger coalitions you eventually get huge ones.
However huge coalitions tend to be not as effective in satisfying the needs of both the coalition members as the prides they conquer and toss the region into disarray. So the lion population collapses. No more big coalitions are being born and the current one will eventually split apart and collapse. Leaving a power vacuum perfect for the resulting smaller coalitions.
Though I am just brainstorming on this at a hour I probably shouldnt.
