In continuation of post #49 of this thread, the days are finally here when 5 tigers (2 males 3 females) are being collared and translocated from Corbett to Rajaji West.

Here is the first tigress who is around 4. She was captured in Bijrani zone and it took the officials 5 days to capture her. The plan is for a soft introduction in an enlarged enclosure in Rajaji and then later, into the forest. She was collared yesterday for translocation:

Hopefully, when this is over, we get the weights and dimensions of these individuals as well. Rajaji west has a potential for 70 tigers (at least).

There is also a slight hiccup in the plan. A young male identified for translocation has been seen with a female. That complicates matters because if the female gives birth to his cubs, he won’t be around and they are most likely to be killed. So, the park needs to identify another young male. Reply
