There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

How long the prey remains alive depends on which area the bear targeted, if it is around the neck area the bear will violently shake its head and that will result to damaged nerves and spinal cord that will paralyzed the prey.
Usually a lot of mauling when bear catches bigger prey animal, clawing flanks while biting neck or back (spine area). It can be seen for instance in posting #256. Similar situations have been filmed, bear hangs on clawing and biting all the time while prey animal tries to get rid of it. If/when falling situations changes to pretty hopeless. Animals able to flee have usually big wounds on flanks from claws.
