There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Initially Fabio was believed to be dominant one, but that assumption was purely on their body size as Fabio is larger of the two Ross males. When it came however to compete for mating rights, Tyson showed himself to be the more dominant and that did not change. Mock mating are not sign of domination, but a form of bonding and it is not rare that less dominant male is mock mating the more dominant one. Moreover you can never seen in mock mating any kind of aggression and if it would be about to determine dominance in the coalition then there would be some aggression for sure.
That is what I would, typically, expect. In a pair of lions, when one has a dark mane, and the other a lighter mane, especially when most other quantifiable attributes are essentially the same, I would expect the dark maned male to be the dominant one. Doesn't always work that way, but a majority of the time I would say it does.
