There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Gabbars Weight?

Of course, I did and I asked if he had weighed any others.

I think Gabbars weight seems fine, we don't know if he was empty or not, so 200kg full would be right around average.
I don't think it downgrades Tadoba tigers by any means, Namdev looked larger framed than Gabbar, Katezari is larger than Namdev, Waghdoh is larger than all.

Obviously just estimates but

185kg Gabbar (confirmed)
200-210kg Namdev (est)
215kg-240kg Katezari (est)
Shivaji (said to be a very large tiger so I estimate him at Katezari size)
Waghdoh 250kg + (est)

Seem to fit nicely in what we believe to be Tiger sizes.

In regards to Ranth Tigers, I think its time we start putting them in the upper tiger limit category.
A female there has been confirmed at 170kg and a male that isn't even exceptionally large compared to others was confirmed at 240kg at age 3.5yrs old and sick.

I never saw the confirmation of 250kg for Ustad, only 240kg.
So I can't speak on that.

One last thing, I know sometimes scales can be off and the type of scaled used can also contribute to that.
The "85kg" mark for a Tigress is a red flag to me, just seems so small. She would literally be one of the smallest females I have ever seen. Even the Sumatran females in the SD safari park were as large as her.
Obviously Im just estimating, but I wouldn't be surprised if the scale may have been off. Absolutely no way to know for sure and Im not going to push the point with the good Dr. as he took the time to respond.
