There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Jens Cullmann: " ‘Not warm and fuzzy’

Vultures don’t fit a stylish role around nature; however, they are so to speak, the ‘garbage removers’ of the wild, and their role is important in eliminating centres of disease and bacteria. Most vulture species in Africa are all large, powerful (not very attractive) birds; and they are all too, in danger of extinction. I have learned to respect their role in nature, and appreciate their unique quirky looks.
A few weeks ago I posted some images and a video were hyenas fed on a buffalo. Seconds after the last hyena left these vultures took over."
