There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.
Over the last 4 days we recorded 9 sightings of lions that involved 4 different prides as well as 2 male coalitions, 10 leopard sightings, a pack of Cape hunting dogs, an African wild cat as well as the usual array of general game, buffalo and elephants. Lions: 5 lionesses and all 9 cubs of the Nkuhuma pride were initially found near Mlowathi Pans. They then spent time hunting along the Tslebe Rocks Donga before moving back to the general vicinity of Mlowathi Pans, where they were joined by both ‘northern’ Avoca males. The Kambula pride remained fragmented. 3 of the youngest cubs were first viewed near our airstrip. They had reunited with two of the lionesses by Friday on Lion Loop. All but one of those lions met up with the other 12 cubs and 2 of the other lionesses in front of Rattray’s Camp on Saturday. Both Gowrie males were viewed to the north of Rattray’s Camp. 5 lionesses from the Torchwood pride were seen in Clarendon Open Area. The Marthly lioness and her cub were at Elephant Rock.
