There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Aside from the fact that lions in Central and Northeast Africa form a different but related clade of lions to West African lions (see this), probably in the same way that Bengal tigers belong to a different but related clade to their relatives in other parts of mainland Asia (see this), defining a rainforest as a tropical forest that receives a continuous and high volume of rainfall per annum, apparently not, because West African lions live in fairly dry forests like those Pendjari (Benin) and Niokolo-Koba (Senegal), similar to their Asiatic cousins (which live in and around Gir Forest, which in the same ecoregion as the tiger-containing forests of Ranthambhore, Sariska and Kuno-Palpur, that is Kathiawar-Gir dry deciduous forests).

Two reccent camera trap photos of Lions in the Atakora zone. I have noticed that the newly released observations of lions in the WAP complex look scrawny.
