There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

From Umkumbe Safari Lodge:
"Mxabene, after giving up on a zebra chase, relaxes in all his bulky glory. What a leopard!"

Bicycle Crossing male.

From Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve:
"Seen on safari this weekend:
A past territorial male leopard, an extremely old face that has not been seen in ages - Xihangalas - was found on Saturday morning deep within Maxabeni's territory. He’s looking very old and full of wounds which seems like he has been in a few confrontations just before making a presence on to the reserve."

Had a very interesting yet nerve racking encounter between Mvula and Tingana West from the lodge. Mvula was having a drink totally unaware of Tingana watching him. As Mvula laid down under a small bush, Tingana sneaked closer and closer. As he got within 2meters from Mvula he jumped on top of him, but Mvula fought back immediately. The fight was over within seconds and both males went their separate ways.

Afternoon Drive.

-After tracking him for a while, we found Tingana in the west, he was sleeping in some shade until a little Steenbok caught his attention, he did not succeed in catching it though.

Little Bush and her cub were on a baby kudu kill this morning when Maxabeni turned up. Seeing one leopard is special, but seeing 3 leopards together is truly amazing!

From Umkumbe Safari Lodge:
"The stocky and heavy set Mxabene is one of our favourite male leopards on our traverse. In this sighting he was seen stalking a zebra but, just like Tatowa, the hunting attempt proved to be unsuccessful."

From Londolozi Game Reserve, The Week In Pictures #270 by Nick Kleer:
"The Piva male walks on a road slightly higher than our position, allowing us this low angle. It’s an incredible experience to be eye level with a leopard."

"The young male cub of the Xidulu female stalks his sister in the long grass. This stalk and pounce play is crucial for practising the skills that will help them to successfully catch prey in the future."

Maxabeni was still seen around the remains of Little Bush's recent kill, a new born kudu calf. We watched him slowly walking in the road, just after sunset, marking his territory and resting until we reached the entrance to Bush Lodge.
